Walk Of Life – Day 07, December 2021 – Christ-Centered Christmas – Titles Of Jesus Christ

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. Rev 19:11

Great is thy faithfulness is one of my favorite hymns. The song was written by Thomas Chrisholm who became a school teacher at age 16 and later on entered the newspaper business. He then became a pastor but had to discontinue his ministry due to ill health. He was a great poet and he sent his poems to his friend William Runyan, a musician in the D.L. Moody ministries. This poem particularly attracted Runyan and he set it to a tune. The song became famous during Rev. Billy Graham’s crusades.

Looking back on the writing of the hymn, Chisholm recalled in 1941, “My income has not been large at any time due to impaired health in the earlier years which has followed me on until now. Although I must not fail to record here the unfailing faithfulness of a covenant keeping God and that He has given me many wonderful displays of His providing care, for which I am filled with astonishing gratefulness.”

“Great is Thy faithfulness O God, my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee. Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine with ten thousand beside!

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!”

The Lord Jesus is faithful and true. He is reliable, trustworthy, and we can count on Him. If He promises He will surely fulfil it. He is not a man that He should lie. Whatever may be the situation you are going through today, remember the Lord Jesus is a faithful God. If He has promised you that He will be with you always, He will. If He has said, He is preparing a place for you, of course He is. If He has said, He will carry you till your old age, surely He will. He is a promise-keeping and a promise fulfilling God.

And He is a true. The devil is a deceiver and a liar but Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the ultimate truth. He is the righteous judge. That term brings a lot of comfort. There is injustice all around us be it in our schools, our colleges, our society and wherever we are. The Lord Jesus says “Vengeance is mine, I will repay” Have you been falsely accused of something? Have you been blamed for things you never did? have you been misunderstood, misinterpreted, spoken ill of and evil of? Have you wondered where is God in all this? Have you been asking Why do the wicked prosper? Rest assured, my friend…the Lord Jesus is the righteous judge. He knows it all from the innermost thoughts, motives, and intentions. He sees the heart. Whatever a man sows, that will he reap. So never fret because of evil doers. Be obedient to the Lord and to His Word and trust Him wholeheartedly. He is faithful and true. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
